Our
breeding goals are clearly set - if people just read it
the way it
shall be read and understand it the way
it should be understood !
Also our
info about health and
eventually risk of
breed-specific diseaes - is there for everybody
who is willing to learn about it
Whether we achieved our goals (breeding
for
longevitiy, vitality, low COI and therefor more
genetic diversity)
completely
or just partly
- the future will tell us - however,
we
have tried to do "our best" !
There are enough sources about
genetic diversity,
breeding schemes and more found in the net -
for those who might be willing to learn more
From German sources (links
listed below) we have
learned that esp. for "longevity" the familial average lifespan is to
take into consideration, rather that the breed-specific lifespan
So far - we have tried to breed each litter out from 2 parentdogs
with
a rather high average familial lifespan
- of course the
one or other ancestor might have died earlier (also from
cancer but as well accidents etc.) but the no. of
those who achieved a higher than the breed-specific
age weighs this out.

We breed so far 9 puppies out
of 2 litters. for the latest results of
health checks of our puppies
pls. see updates A- and B-litter !
8 people / families are "happy with a Leonida
Leos puppy"
and some have even 2 Leos from our kennel
some friends who had Leos related to our
lines
in the past have obviously been satisfied the way
that they wish again to get a Leonberger,
breed by us and / or related to our lines
We found new friends and some existing
friendship grew deeper.
We get regularly updates about the well-being
of "our" puppies - in one case there is a nice
but not so regular contact - and we get from
time to time updates and pictures as well
and in one case "we failed" !
We are very sorry for this puppy and we
wish especially
for this one puppy an long and healthy life and most of
all it shall never lose this enormous self-confidence and happy nature
it did already show as a very young puppy
a "happy camper" just like
doggy mom at 6.5 y age
grandma at 9.5 y age
and great-grandma at 11.5 y age |
