As we will breed only
occasionally the Dad one of our litter shall probably be Teddy !
He was a Leonberger of
the "old type" with great temperament and many other desirable traits
From his lines we hope to get some strength, health and longevity which is
needed for our breed
Teddy was
health-checked for
hips
sceletal overview
thyroid
eyes
heart (last check at 10.5 yrs)
complete bloodwork
biopsy/necropsy for IPN negative
Teddy passed the
BACL
at Netherlands Leonberger Club (valid for life)
and character-test
semen collections
took place at
8 yrs and 9 yrs
WHO-Status = all items passed
Brucella canis negativ (1999 and 2003)
Other sires we
will chose mainly on similar traits (great temperament, good health and longevity)
and on the lines / ancestors they carry. We try to avoid the so-called
"multiple" sires as they reduce diversity; we would rather prefer a
kind of line breeding (with a maximum COI of 6.5 %) to boys who are not
excessively used and carry the lines we are looking for
