All means and methods of strengthening tendons, as a dog's stomach is supported by tendons & ligaments (e.g. lig. gastrolienale & others) and unlike a human stomach is more likely to twist during a case of bloat or unusual or violent movement. The stomach can become blocked at both ends as a result. Nothing can enter or leave and the stomach contents begin eventually to ferment. During an OP involving gastric torsion the stomach is usually stitched to the abdomen wall (to avoid further twisting).

It is known that large deep-chested breeds, particularly older ones, are prone to this.
